Terms of Service

Effective: 23 September 2026 · This English version is a translation of the Japanese original (see Terms, section 14).

Run Japan with Fumitaka is operated by Akiko Sekikawa, a sole proprietor in Japan. All services are delivered by runner Fumitaka Momose. In these pages, "I" and "me" refer to the service.

1. Scope

These terms apply to everyone who uses the services provided by Run Japan with Fumitaka, operated by Akiko Sekikawa, with services delivered by Fumitaka Momose ("I", "me"). By booking a service, you agree to these terms.

2. What I provide

  1. Race Finder. An emailed shortlist of two or three Japanese races that fit your ability, dates and goals, with entry dates and key rules explained in English.
  2. Entry Sidekick. A video call of about 60 minutes. You share your screen and fill in the Japanese entry page yourself while I translate and explain.
  3. Course Preview Run. A guided run with me on a race course, or the trails around it, before race day: half day (three to four hours) or full day (six to eight hours), on weekends, on trails in western Tokyo and Ibaraki, up to four runners per group. I only use trails open to the public, and only where the race organizer allows course previews. We meet at a station and travel by public transport; I don't drive clients.
  4. Services for businesses (Race & Entry Brief, Japan Running Desk, Partner Scout). These terms apply together with the written proposal we agree. Where the two differ, the proposal applies. Monthly subscriptions renew each month and can be cancelled with 30 days' written notice; fees for months already started aren't refunded.

3. What I don't do

  1. I am not a travel agency. I don't arrange or book flights, accommodation, transport or tours.
  2. I never enter a race on your behalf, and I never hold your race-entry login, password or payment details.
  3. I can't guarantee that you'll win a lottery, be allowed to start, or finish a race. Lottery results, cancellations and rule changes are decided by race organizers.
  4. I am not a doctor or a coach. I don't give medical advice or personalized training plans.
  5. I am not an official agent of, or affiliated with, any race organizer.

4. Fees and payment

  1. Fees are in US dollars as shown on the website.
  2. After your free call, I'll email you an invoice. You'll receive a secure payment link. You can pay by credit or debit card through Stripe, or by US bank debit (ACH) or bank transfer in USD, EUR or GBP through Payoneer. Processing fees are included in the price; any fees charged by your own bank or card issuer, such as foreign transaction fees, are yours to cover.
  3. The service starts once payment is confirmed.
  4. Race entry fees, travel, accommodation and meals aren't included. You pay those directly.
  5. For a Course Preview Run, my round-trip public transport from Ibaraki to the meeting point is charged at cost. I'll tell you the amount before you pay. You pay your own fares.

5. Cancellations and refunds

  1. Race Finder: full refund if you cancel before delivery; no refund after delivery. If I don't deliver within 7 days of payment, you get a full refund.
  2. Entry Sidekick: full refund if you cancel 48 hours or more before the call; 50% refund within 48 hours. One free reschedule up to 24 hours before. Entry windows sometimes make rescheduling impossible.
  3. Course Preview Run: full refund 7 days or more before; 50% refund from 7 days to 48 hours before; no refund within 48 hours.
  4. If I cancel, including for safety reasons such as bad weather, natural disasters or transport shutdowns, you choose a full refund or a new date.
  5. Services already delivered aren't refunded if you don't win a race lottery.
  6. Refunds are paid by the original method within 14 days. Transfer fees are deducted.

6. In-person runs: safety and assumption of risk

Please read this section carefully before booking a run.
  1. Running and trail running carry risks, including falls, injury, heat illness and heart problems. You take part at your own judgment and risk.
  2. You confirm you have no health condition that makes it unsafe for you to run, and you'll consult a doctor beforehand if you're unsure.
  3. If I decide to change, shorten or stop a run because of your condition, the weather or the terrain, please follow that decision.
  4. I strongly recommend travel insurance that covers accidents and emergency rescue.
  5. Please give me an emergency contact before the run.

7. Limitation of liability

  1. Except in cases of my intentional misconduct or gross negligence, my liability is limited to the amount you paid me for the service concerned.
  2. Race information I provide reflects what I confirmed at the time of writing. The organizer's official announcements always take priority.
  3. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law, including under consumer protection laws.

8. Not allowed

Asking me to help break race rules (such as running under another person's bib or transferring a bib), breaking the law, harassing me or others, or reselling or publishing the materials I prepare for you.

9. Photos and feedback

I only publish your photos or feedback with your separate permission, which you can withdraw at any time.

10. Intellectual property

You're free to use the materials I prepare for your own race preparation. I keep the copyright.

11. Founding runner rate

If you book at the founding runner rate (about half the regular price), I ask for a short written review and a 15-minute feedback call after the service. Sharing photos is optional.

12. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms. Updated terms apply to bookings made after they're posted on this page.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance. This doesn't affect any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the country where you live.

14. Language

The Japanese version of these terms is the original. If the English and Japanese versions differ, the interpretation more favorable to you applies.
